ZAO Organic Makeup Pearly Lipsticks are just that! They sparkle like pearls in the sunshine!

If you’ve never heard of ZAO organic makeup then you really are missing a trick!

I’m starting to look at using more ‘good for your skin and the environment’ skincare and makeup in 2017.

Testing out more vegan options in both my skincare, cosmetics and food.

I was introduced to the ZAO brand on Instagram by lovely Leanne from Polished By Leanne.

Reading about the brand, they provide natural formulas in their products and are vegan friendly.

Their products are enriched with active organic ingredients, delivered to you in sustainable packaging.

What’s not to love!

Founder of ZAO, David Reccole was inspired to use bamboo in his organic makeup.

In both his formulations, and casings.

Bamboo is known for its high levels of silica which is great for skin elasticity.

ZAO is certified organic by ECOCERT and is free for all toxic chemicals.

These include parabens.

Instead ZAO use micronized silver as a preservative.

The best thing is, most of all the ZAO products are refillable!

So buy once, and then buy a refill!

Now, I purchased 6 items so I could test out a good cross section from the range.

The first review is for the ZAO Makeup Pearly Lipstick.

I opted for shade 401, Pearly Amethyst because I love pinks and mauves on me.

My first thoughts were that it was a lot paler than I was expecting.

Swatching on the back of my hand, I could feel the high levels of moisture.

That would be from the pomegranate extract and cocoa butter!

These are both fabulous at fighting the fine lines on your lips.

The texture was velvety and I got a smooth application straight from the lipstick bullet.

It was too pale as a single product on my lips.

However as a layered lipstick it is beautiful!

As a base for a matt lipstick it lets a shimmer pop through from below.

As a top layer for a matt lipstick it turns that lipstick into something special!

Perfect for a dramatic evening makeup look when you want a bit of sparkle.

Long wearing even after a cup of tea!
