Sticky Chocolate Brownies

Sticky Chocolate Brownies, I love them!

These chocolate brownies are the stickiest brownies I have ever created, your fingers will be covered in thick gooey chocolate as you eat them. Perfect with a cup of tea on a lazy afternoon!

I bet you can only manage just the one, well maybe two at a push!

Makes 9

ingredients

Sticky Chocolate Brownies

  • 85g room temperature unsalted butter plus extra for greasing
  • 140g caster sugar
  • 100g soft brown sugar
  • 125g plain chocolate
  • 1 tbsp golden syrup
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100g plain flour sifted
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder plus extra for dusting
  • ½ tsp baking powder

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/GM4.

Lightly grease a 20cm/8 inch square baking tin and line the base.

Place the butter, sugars, chocolate and golden syrup in a heavy-based saucepan and heat gently, stirring until the mixture is well blended and smooth. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.

Beat together the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.

Whisk in the cooled chocolate mixture, make sure there aren’t any lumps.

Sift together the flour, cocoa and baking powder and fold carefully into the egg and chocolate mixture using a metal spoon.

Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the top of the cake is crisp and the edge of the cake is starting to shrink away from the tin. The inside of the cake will be gooey and soft.

Leave the cake to cool completely in the tin, dust with cocoa powder then cut into squares.
