If you’re looking for sugar free snacks that taste delicious, this sugar free spicy popcorn is one of my favourites.
I’ve been trying really hard over the last few weeks to reduce the amount of sugar I consume, the reason being, sugar makes me feel rubbish and it also makes my skin look old!
I’ve noticed some positive changes over the last couple of weeks; the major one is that I have more energy because I’m sleeping much better.
I also know my dentist is going to be super impressed, as I’ve been known to be a bit of a sweetie lover!
This recipe makes roughly 8 cups.
Sugar Free Spicy Popcorn Ingredients
- 2 tbsps coconut oil (I use Lucy Bee)
- 160g raw popcorn kernels
- 115g unsalted butter
- 2 tsps each of ground cinnamon, cumin and cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 2 tbsps rice malt syrup
Sugar Free Spicy Popcorn Method
- In a very big saucepan with a lid, heat the coconut oil over a high heat.
- Cook the popcorn (with the lid on) shaking the pan often.
- Once you hear the last of the kernels pop, remove from the heat.
- Place the popcorn into a large pan.
- Melt the butter with the spices, salt and syrup in a small saucepan.
- When all the ingredients have melted, pour over the popcorn.
- Stir well to combine.
- Serve warm or cold.
I like to fill small paper cups with napkins or kitchen roll and then fill them with the popcorn.
To be honest, I prefer mine to be cold. The spices become more apparent and the popcorn becomes sticky and delicious.
The mix of the salty, spicy and buttery tastes sends your taste buds into frenzy!
This recipe is one of my Bonfire Night must haves, so I make the popcorn the day before and store it in an airtight container.
The next day I complete the butter and spices stage.
This sugar free spicy popcorn is so easy to make, I’m sure you’ll be popping that corn regularly!
