I love novelty sweet treats! I always have since I was a child.

These novelty sweet treats don’t take very long to make, majority of the time needed is to wait for the eggs to go completely cold before you cut them.
So if you are making them for a special occasion, make sure you allow enough time for this.
This is an activity you can do with the kids, as long as the adult cuts off the top of the eggs.
This recipe makes four eggs, so perfect for four little mouths!
Novelty Sweet Treats
- 4 large free range eggs
- 2 ripe mangoes
- 250g soft cream cheese
- 40g caster sugar
- Finely grated zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 4 tsp lemon curd
Method
- Place the eggs in a medium saucepan with enough cold water to cover them.
- Bring to a simmer over a high heat and cook for 7 minutes or until they are hard boiled.
- Let the eggs go completely cold.
- Remove the tops of the eggs with a sharp knife.
- Scoop out the contents of the eggs with a teaspoon (use for sandwich fillings or another recipe).
- Thoroughly wash and dry the egg shells both inside and out.
- Remove the skin from the mango.
- Slice the fruit into lengths for dipping soldiers.
- In a bowl, whisk the cheese, sugar, lemon zest and juice until smooth.
- Spoon the mixture into the clean egg shells.
- Make a dip in the centre of each of the filled egg shells.
- Fill the dip with the lemon curd.
- Serve with the mango soldiers.
